PHILIPPINES, 30 AUGUST 2019 – The award-winning HBO Asia Original series, THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC returns for its eight-episode second season with double back-to-back episodes on Sunday, 6 October at 9pm, exclusively on HBO. A new episode will premiere on subsequent Sundays at the same time. HBO Asia also released the official trailer and key art for the new season.

THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC centres around Xiao Zhen (played by Kuo Shu-Yao), a high school student with the ability to see spirits who yearns to be like any normal teenager but has to juggle the pressures of teenage life – first love, academic success and peer pressure – with the demands of the spirit world.

Season two of THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC sees Xiao Zhen trying to pick up the pieces in the new school year following the tragedy she faced last year. As the new president of the drama club, Xiao Zhen focuses on recruiting new members, however there is more to the two new members than meets the eye – cute newbie Zhang Yuxuan (played by Fandy Fan) and soft-spoken Zhan Xiao Tong (played by Wen Chen-Ling). At the temple, things get complicated when Teacher Kim’s (played by Chen Mu-Yi) family secret comes back to haunt him.

THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC GIFs

Due to the popularity of this series, HBO Asia has created a set of 15 THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC GIFs which is now available on Facebook and Instagram for fans to use on their social platforms. The GIFs can be found in the GIF search engine, under Instagram stories, Instagram direct message, Facebook comments section and within Facebook messenger.

To further promote the series in Taiwan, HBO Asia has partnered with two food and beverage brands to enhance local fan experience of the popular series. Fans can currently purchase THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC branded mooncakes from Taiwan’s renowned pastry store Jiu Zhen Nan【舊振南】, while from 14 September, a THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC-themed dessert and drink will be available for redemption across all 5 Perfume Dance outlets【跳舞香水】, while the Mega City Banqiao outlet will be transformed into the famed drama club from the series.

The first season of THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC won the Best Mini-Series (TV Movie) award and Best Supporting Actress in a Mini-Series (TV Movie) award at Taiwan’s 52^nd Annual Golden Bell Awards 2017. The series also inspired the HBO Asia Original documentary, THE WORLD BEHIND THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC, which explores how the distinct blend of Taoist, Buddhist, Chinese folklore and indigenous belief systems continue to flourish in modern Taiwan.

HBO Asia started producing Original productions in 2012 and has produced a range of Asian Original productions including series, movies and documentaries. To date, HBO Asia has produced and aired 16 Asian Original productions with more in the pipeline. THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC is also the second returning HBO Asia Original series after HALFWORLDS.
