THE PHILIPPINES, 3 December 2018 – HBO Asia announced that production has begun for the second season of the award-winning HBO Asia Original mandarin series, THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC. Filmed entirely in Taiwan with an all-Taiwanese cast, the second season stars Kuo Shu-Yao (HBO Asia’s “The Teenage Psychic”, “Step Back to Glory”), as she reprises her lead role as Xiao Zhen, alongside new cast members including two-time Golden Bell Award-winning actress Wen Chen-Ling (“The Last Verse”) and rising star, Fandy Fan (“HIStory”). The eight-episode second season of THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC is scheduled to premiere in 2019 and will be available across Asia on HBO and HBO On Demand.

Mr. Jonathan Spink, CEO of HBO Asia said, “HBO Asia has always been committed to producing quality content from Asia for a global audience. We are delighted that the first season of THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC was well-received in the region and even received the prestigious recognition at the Golden Bell Awards in Taiwan. It was an obvious decision for us to renew the series for a second season – the show absolutely deserves it.” He further added, “We are always looking for opportunities to produce more local language productions such as THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC and working with local talents and crew across Asia.”

The new season of THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC continues with Xiao Zhen trying to lead a typical teenage life while going through high school. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhen’s beloved drama club is also facing the possibility of being shut down with news of her best friend relocating overseas with her family and reducing the number of members in the club even further. Juggling the multiple pressures from school, the drama club and the demands of the spirit world, things are about to take a turn for the worse for the 17-year-old.

New cast members for season two include award-winning actress, Wen Chen-Ling, who plays Zhan Xiao Tong, a neglected student with low self-esteem. Receiving encouragement from Xiao Zhen, Xiao Tong joins the drama club and discovers her talent in acting. As her life begins to turn around, she soon finds herself faced with more challenges. Also joining the cast isFandy Fan who plays Zhang Yu Xuan, a sickly teenage boy who is raised in a restricted and overprotected environment. Unhappy to remain silent, Yu Xuan is determined to take control of his own life and escape the constraints of his upbringing.

THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC season two will be directed by up-and-coming director Liu Yan-Fu (“Life List”). Chen Ho-Yu, director of THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC season one, will executive produce.

The first season of THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC told a coming-of-age story that revolves around a teenager who just wants to lead a typical teenage high school life. Born with the ability to see spirits, her life will never be normal. Throughout the series, she had to juggle the pressures of teenage life – first love, academic success and peer pressure – with the demands of the spirit world. THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC season one also clinched the coveted Best Mini-Series (TV Movie) award and Best Supporting Actress in a Mini-Series (TV Movie) award for Nana Lee at Taiwan’s 52nd Annual Golden Bell Awards 2017 and received two nominations at the 22nd Asian Television Awards 2017 for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Chen Mu Yi and Best Cinematography. THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC season one is also available to audiences in the U.S. on the HBO U.S. service.

THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC has also inspired HBO Asia’s one-hour original mandarin documentary, THE WORLD BEHIND THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC, which explores how the distinct blend of Taoist, Buddhist, Chinese folklore and indigenous belief systems continue to flourish in modern Taiwan. THE WORLD BEHIND THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC premieres on Sunday, 16 December at 8pm on HBO.

HBO Asia started producing its Original productions in 2012 and have since expanded their range of Asian Original productions to include series, movies and documentaries. THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC season two marks the fifteenth Asian original production for the network, with more slated to premiere in the coming years.

THE PHILIPPINES, 19 NOVEMBER 2018 – HBO Asia announced today that the brand-new HBO Asia original documentary, THE WORLD BEHIND THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC, inspired by the network’s award-winning coming-of-age series, THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC, will premiere on Sunday, 16 December at 8pm exclusively on HBO.

The documentary follows the success of HBO Asia’s first Mandarin original drama series, THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC, that premiered in 2017 with positive ratings and received recognition at the prestigious Golden Bell Awards. Filmed entirely in Taiwan, the one-hour long Mandarin documentary, THE WORLD BEHIND THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC, seeks to delve deeper into the traditions and culture that THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC is based on.

Featuring anecdotes and stories told by an 18-year-old medium in the Sanchong district, a family of Taoist priests from Keelung city and an award-winning actress and singer whose family runs a funeral business in Nantou county, as well as a practicing priest and teacher of religious studies at Fu-Jen Catholic University, the documentary explores the rituals and beliefs surrounding the afterlife and Ghost Month in Taiwan.

THE PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 12, 2018 – HBO Sports’ groundbreaking “24/7” reality franchise, that has captured 18 Sports Emmy® Awards for production excellence, will spotlight professional golf for the first time. 24/7 THE MATCH: TIGER VS. PHIL premieres on Thursday, November 22 at 10.50pm exclusively on HBO. The behind-the-scenes show chronicles Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, two of the sport’s most accomplished competitors (with 19 major championships combined), as they prepare to go head-to-head at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas on November 23.

For years, the two biggest attractions in pro golf have flirted with the idea of a high-stakes, winner-takes-all match. 24/7 THE MATCH: TIGER VS. PHIL will go inside the ropes before “Capital One’s The Match: Tiger vs. Phil,” offering an all-encompassing look at the careers of these two superstars and their roads to this head-to-head competition.

24/7 THE MATCH: TIGER VS. PHIL will feature exclusive access to both golfers as they prepare for the showdown, including in-depth interviews with them about the rich history behind their rivalry and friendship – and the intensity that drives both to try and best the other when they meet for this monumental clash.

Since turning pro in 1996, Tiger Woods has been a force of nature on the links, revolutionising the sport with a fierce competitive streak never seen before. A trailblazer who crushed barriers and stereotypes, Woods, 42, has amassed 14 major wins, second only to Jack Nicklaus’ 18, and is two PGA Tour wins away from becoming the most accomplished golfer in history. His recent win at the Tour Championship electrified sports fans worldwide and underscored Tiger’s return to championship mode.

Phil Mickelson, 48, turned pro in 1992 and ranks ninth all-time with 43 PGA Tour wins; he’s won five majors, including three memorable victories at Augusta National. Golf fans have been treated to the Tiger and Phil grouping 37 times on the PGA Tour, with Woods holding a slight edge at 18-15-4.

Among the most-honoured sports series on TV, 24/7 was called “a masterfully entertaining reality show” by ESPN The Magazine, while Newsday.com observed, “HBO’s ‘24/7’ series is the best sports program on television. Bar none.”

24/7 THE MATCH: TIGER VS. PHIL is executive produced by Peter Nelson and Rick Bernstein; senior producer, Bentley Weiner; writer, Aaron Cohen. Liev Schreiber narrates.

THE PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 29, 2018 – MIKE JUDGE PRESENTS: TALES FROM THE TOUR BUS, chronicling the exploits of legendary music artists, begins its eight-episode second season same time as the U.S. on Saturday, November 3 at 10am exclusively on CINEMAX with a same day encore at 9.30pm. New episodes debut every Saturday at the same time.

While the first season of the show spotlighted country musicians, the new season focuses on funk music greats, including George Clinton, Rick James, James Brown and Bootsy Collins. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Parliament-Funkadelic founder Clinton serves as consulting producer and provides original music for the series.

Marking a return to his roots in animation and as a musician, Judge (“King of the Hill”; “Beavis and Butt-Head”; Emmy® nominee for HBO’s “Silicon Valley”) co-created, narrates and serves as an executive producer on the series, which recounts the raucous adventures of these musicians, as told by those who knew them best.

TALES FROM THE TOUR BUS features animated interviews with former bandmates, friends and other erstwhile associates, who share uncensored anecdotes about the artists, brought to life by animated reenactments, and woven together with live-action archival performance footage and photos.

Episodes include:

Episode #9 (Season 2, Episode 1): “George Clinton”
Debut date: Saturday, Nov 3 at 10am with a same day encore at 9.30pm on CINEMAX

A cornerstone figure in funk music, George Clinton went from singing a capella in a barbershop to chasing Motown glory in Detroit with his band, The Parliaments. But the introduction of LSD took him to the next level, as he built a funk empire with outrageous costumes, frequent band-name changes and an occasional bit of nudity. From his first hit, “(I Wanna) Testify,” to the smash anthem “Tear the Roof Off the Sucker (Give Up the Funk),” Clinton forged a lasting sound that went on to fuel a whole new genre: hip-hop.

Written by Mark Monroe and Mike Judge; directed by Mike Judge.

Episode #10 (Season 2, Episode 2): “Rick James Pt. 1”
Debut date: Saturday, Nov 10 at 10am with a same day encore at 9.30pm on CINEMAX

The self-proclaimed “King of Punk Funk,” Rick James came from humble beginnings in Buffalo before hooking up with Neil Young while dodging the draft in Canada. With a penchant for pyrotechnics, glitter, custom boots and marijuana, his quest to become a black rock star reached its apex when a throwaway song, “Super Freak,” topped the charts and gave him the fame he’d dreamed of.

Written by Mark Monroe and Mike Judge; directed by Mike Judge.

Episode #11 (Season 2, Episode 3): “Rick James Pt. 2”
Debut date: Saturday, Nov 17 at 10am with a same day encore at 9.30pm on CINEMAX

In the mid-‘80s, funk star Rick James was riding high on top of the music world. But between his rivalry with Prince, crusade against MTV and run-ins with the law, he fell further under the influence of cocaine. Even a shot at a comeback, when M.C. Hammer sampled his greatest hit, couldn’t pull James back from the brink.

Written by Mark Monroe and Mike Judge; directed by Mike Judge.

Returning for season two are executive producers Glen Zipper and Sean Stuart, along with writer and co-executive producer Mark Monroe. Joining the show is veteran music journalist Nelson George (“Finding the Funk,” HBO’s “Life Support”) as consulting producer.

Debuting on CINEMAX in Sept. 2017, the first season of TALES FROM THE TOUR BUS spotlighted country music legends, including Johnny Paycheck, Jerry Lee Lewis, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Billy Joe Shaver, Waylon Jennings and Blaze Foley.

The Los Angeles Times described the series as “addictive,” while Decider called the show “unlike anything you’ve ever seen before,” Rolling Stone hailed it as “informative as it is hilariously raw” and A.V. Club termed the series “storytelling gold.”

Among the critical raves for the first season, the Los Angeles Times called the series “wildly creative” and the New York Times noted that ROOM 104 “takes eager advantage of the possibility that any episode can go anywhere,” while Variety said the show “is to be lauded for its adventurousness” and TV Guide observed that the “tales are compelling, deeply engrossing and in a few cases so haunting that they’ll linger in your psyche.”

Filmmaking brothers Jay and Mark Duplass (along with Steve Zissis) were creators of the HBO comedy series “Togetherness.” They are also executive producers of HBO’s adult animated comedy series “Animals,” which concluded its third season in October.

Jay and Mark Duplass have written, directed and/or produced more than 20 films, including “Cyrus,” “Jeff, Who Lives at Home,” “Baghead” and their 2005 Sundance Film Festival breakout hit, “The Puffy Chair.” Other films produced by the Duplass Brothers include the Independent Spirit Award-winning “Safety Not Guaranteed” and “Tangerine.”

Season two credits: ROOM 104 was created by Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass; executive producers, Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass, Sydney Fleischmann, Mel Eslyn; producer, Tyler Romary.
