PHILIPPINES, DECEMBER 1, 2020 – WarnerMedia today announced the second season of the HBO Asia Original horror anthology series, Folklore. Principal photography for the seven-part hour-long series will commence early next year in seven Asian territories including Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Each episode will be directed by a local director from each territory.

Helmed once again by Singapore’s award-winning filmmaker Eric Khoo, the second season of Folklore will ramp up the fear factor as it examines the human condition when exposed to supernatural powers in a mind-bending race against oneself, each story bringing a different take and perspective.

The directors for this season include Sittisiri Mongkolsiri from Thailand, Shih-Han Liao from Taiwan, Erik Matti from the Philippines, Billy Christian from Indonesia, Nicole Midori Woodford from Singapore, and Bradley Liew from Malaysia. Pop singer-songwriter, Seiko Matsuda, will be making her directorial debut in the episode from Japan.

“The horror genre has always worked well in Asia. Season two of His Dark Materials begins after Lord Asriel has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.

PHILIPPINES, 24 September 2020 – Yeo Yann Yann has bagged a Best Performance by an Actress nomination at the 2020 International Emmy® Awards for her role in HBO Asia’s Invisible Stories. The series, which shines light into dark corners and tells untold stories from the heartlands in a fictional neighbourhood housing estate in multi-cultural Singapore, is currently streaming on HBO GO.

In Invisible Stories, Yann Yann plays Lian, a burnt out and financially-drained single mother struggling to cope with her 19-year-old son (played by Devin Pan) with autism, who displays aggressive behaviours during meltdowns following the sudden death of his grandmother, who was his main caregiver.

The six-part half-hour drama series was filmed entirely on location in Singapore. Select episodes from the series were featured at the 2019 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and the Singapore International Film Festival.

Invisible Stories is created by Singaporean Ler Jiyuan with a team of local writers and produced by Singapore-based production house Birdmandog. The series is produced as part of a two-year partnership with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore. Through a series of workshops and collaborations with local companies and talent on HBO Asia Original productions, the partnership aims to develop the content production capabilities of Singapore’s media industry.

Nominations for the 2020 International Emmy® Awards were announced in New York on 24 September by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Winners will be announced at a ceremony produced from New York City on Monday, 23 November 2020. PHILIPPINES, 21 SEPTEMBER 2020 – WarnerMedia received 38 wins with HBO winning 30 awards, more than any other network, at the 72nd Primetime Emmy® Awards. The virtual ceremony aired live in Los Angeles on 20 September 2020. This is the 20th consecutive year HBO has either won the most or tied for the most Emmy wins and the 20th year overall it received the most wins.
