New Episodes Premiere Same Time As The U.S., Every Monday At 9am Exclusively On HBO

PHILIPPINES, 2 May 2019 – Following the third episode premiere of GAME OF THRONES Season 8 yesterday, HBO has made available new images and several behind-the-scenes videos from the episode.

·       Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3: Cast Commentary – An Act of Love

·       Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3: Cast Commentary – The Great War

·       Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3: Inside the Episode

David Benioff (Executive Producer, Writer) and D.B. Weiss (Executive Producer, Writer) break down Episode 3 in ‘Inside The Episode’ –

“Because it’s such a long battle, and this episode is important that we feel the ebb and flow and so there are moments when you think things are going a little bit better for the living, we felt like it was important to have that moment of hope when Mel comes in and lights up their oxen and they’ll ride off into battle.”

“We knew this episode was going to be almost entirely battle and that can get really boring, really quickly. You can watch it for a certain number of minutes before the effect starts to dampen. Part of it was making sure that we really stayed focused on the characters, and so whether it’s Arya’s storyline or Sansa, Tyrion down the Crypt or Jon Snow and Dany up in the dragons, kind of like all these separate little battles within the greater battle.”

“Lyanna Mormont was supposed to be a one scene character and then we met Bella Ramsey and we realized that we would not be doing our jobs if we kept her as a one scene character. We knew that you can’t give a big death to everybody who dies in this battle, because it would have (which would have) been too much but there also if she were to die, there was no way to not make a moment of it, so that’s where the zombie giant comes in. It just did add a whole level of complexity to that moment that I’m sure a lot of people would have been okay with not having there if we had demanded to cut it but I think they also understood why we needed to give one of the strongest, smaller people in the show a chance to go out taking down one of the strongest larger things we’ve ever seen the show.”

“I think it’s probably three years now or something we’ve known that it was going to be Arya who delivers that fatal blow.”

In addition, a 40-minute featurette, The Game Revealed: The Long Night where the cast and crew sheds light on the extraordinary 11-week night shoot that culminated in the longest Game of Thrones episode to date, will be made available on HBO Asia’s YouTube channel later.

The fourth episode of the 6-episode final season of the Emmy®-winning HBO Original series GAME OF THRONES premieres same time as the U.S. on Monday, 6 May at 9am exclusively on HBO.

On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union suffered a massive explosion that released radioactive material across Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, and as far as Scandinavia and western Europe.

Jared Harris portrays Valery Legasov, a leading Soviet nuclear physicist. As part of the response team, he is one of the first to grasp the scope of the unparalleled disaster that has occurred.

Stellan Skarsgård plays Soviet Deputy Prime Minister Boris Shcherbina, who is assigned by the Kremlin to lead the government commission on Chernobyl in the hours immediately following the accident.

He spoke to nuclear scientists to learn how a reactor works, and interviewed former Soviet citizens to gain a better sense of the culture in 1986.

Mazin also read a great number of first-person accounts, which helped bring an additional layer of authenticity and humanity to the story. He explains, “When you’re reading the personal stories of people who were there – people who lived near the plant, people who worked at the plant, people who were sent to Chernobyl as part of the effort to clean it up – in those individual accounts, that’s really where the story came alive.”

Principal photography for CHERNOBYL took place in Lithuania and Ukraine, with a creative team including: director of photography Jakob Ihre (“Thelma”); production designer Luke Hull (“Howards End”); editors, Jinx Godfrey (“The Theory of Everything”) and Simon Smith (“Endeavor”); costume designer Odile Dicks-Mireaux (“Brooklyn”); casting directors Nina Gold and Robert Sterne (both two-time Emmy® winners for HBO’s “Game of Thrones”); and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir (“Trapped”).

The Final Season Of GAME OF THRONES Premieres Same Time As The U.S. On Monday, April 15 at 9am Only On HBO.

PHILIPPINES, APRIL 11, 2019 – In celebration of the premiere of the eighth and final season of GAME OF THRONES (#GameOfThrones) on 15 April at 9am on HBO, HBO Asia has commissioned Singaporean sneaker designer and home-grown label, SBTG, to create four bespoke sneaker designs paying homage to the series. Not available for sale, the four pairs of custom-designed GAME OF THRONES x SBTG sneakers will be on display from 17 to 30 April at the Limited Edt Chamber store in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. GAME OF THRONES fans and avid sneakerheads in Asia can stand a chance to win a pair of these coveted kicks through a contest on this dedicated microsite. Contest ends on 25 April 2019.

Taking inspiration from the Emmy©-winning fantasy hit-series, the artist behind the SBTG label, Mark Ong, skilfully combined his signature military-inspired designs and intricate detailing with iconic GAME OF THRONES themes onto four pairs of sneakers. Three pairs are designed with familiar colours, motifs and quotes from House Targaryen, House Stark and House Lannister while the fourth pair is given an icy transformation by the Night King and his White Walkers. Each pair of GAME OF THRONES x SBTG customised sneakers are embedded with Near-Field Communication (NFC) chips powered by VeChain, a public blockchain platform that allows any potential collector the ability to verify the authenticity of each pair through VeChainThor blockchain. The NFC chips also contain exclusive behind-the-scenes videos of each sneaker design which can be played and viewed by anyone using the Vechain mobile app.

Mark Ong, a.k.a. Mr Sabotage, is a sneaker artist and streetwear designer who has achieved cult status with a dedicated following of sneaker collectors both locally and abroad. Mark’s shoe customisations and streetwear designs are inspired by punk-rock and skateboarding culture. In 2002, he sold his first pair of customised Nikes online, which kick-started his journey as a pioneer in the field of sneaker design. Since then, Mark now runs his home-grown label – SBTG (short for ‘Sabotage’) with his wife and partner Sue-Anne Lim, a.k.a. Mrs Sabotage, both catering to custom-designed sneakers and apparel. Among their celebrity customers are basketball players Kobe Bryant and Stephen Curry, nu-metal group, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda.

Ms. Magdalene Ew, Head of Marketing, Creative and Content at HBO Asia, says, “Due to its mass appeal, GAME OF THRONES has left a significant imprint not only in the entertainment scene but also on pop culture over the past decade. As we seek to extend the excitement around the season finale, we are pleased to tap the talent of a Singapore sneakerartist and streetwear designer, Mark Ong, to create these bespoke GAME OF THRONES sneakers. Through our collaboration with SBTG, we hope to bring together two distinct cultures – pop and street culture – for loyal fans of the show. This is what HBO Asia will do for the throne.”

Mr. Mark Ong, sneaker artist and streetwear designer, says, “As fans of the series, it was a no-brainer to take this project on as it allows us to have fun working as a team.” He further adds, “Reading the brief and knowing that we will be creating individual designs for four different houses got me really excited. I was able to apply my ‘camouflage patterns’ and featuring them respectively yet presenting them cohesively.”

THE PHILIPPINES, 11 APRIL 2019 – Following its recent second-season premiere, HBO has renewed the hit comedy series BARRY for a third season, it was announced yesterday by Amy Gravitt, executive vice president, HBO Programming.

Created by Alec Berg & Bill Hader, who stars in the title role, BARRY launched its eight-episode second season 1 April. This season,Barry is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But while Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play. What is it about his own psyche that led him to become a killer in the first place? Season 2 is currently airing the same time as the U.S. every Monday at 10am, with a same day encore at 11pm, exclusively on HBO.

Other Season 2 cast regulars include: Stephen Root as Barry’s handler, who is alarmed to contemplate a future without his primary source of income; Sarah Goldberg as a dedicated acting student who becomes the object of Barry’s affection; Anthony Carrigan as an unfailingly polite mobster; and Henry Winkler as a pompous yet endearing acting teacher who takes Barry under his wing.

BARRY received three Emmys® for its first season last September: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Bill Hader); Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Henry Winkler); and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.
