PHILIPPINES, 21 JANUARY 2021 – From Lisa Zwerling (“ER”; “FlashForward”) and Karyn Usher (“Prison Break”; “Bones”), comes the eight-episode STARZ Original Series, The Rook, a supernatural spy thriller which lands in Asia for the first time. The series stars Emma Greenwell (“Shameless”; “The Path”), Joely Richardson (“Nip/Tuck”; “Red Sparrow”) and Olivia Munn (HBO’s “The Newsroom”; “The Predator”). Stream or download the first three episodes exclusively on HBO GO. A new episode premieres on the streaming platform every Monday from 25 January to 22 February. The series is produced and distributed internationally by Lionsgate.

The Rook is the origin story of an empowered young woman who chooses to become the invaluable asset her agency always wanted her to be – entirely on her own terms. The seriestells the story of Myfanwy Thomas (played by Greenwell), a woman who wakes up in the rain beside London’s Millennium Bridge with no memory of who she is and no explanation for the circle of dead bodies splayed out around her. The only clue to her past is a letter in her pocket, the first of several she planted for herself knowing her memory would be wiped. When Myfanwy discovers she’s a high-ranking official in the Checquy, Britain’s last truly secret service for people with paranormal abilities, she’ll have to navigate the dangerous and complex world of the agency to uncover who wiped her memory – and why. As Myfanwy searches for her past, she is tasked with protecting those with supernatural powers – or Extreme Variant Abilities (EVAs) – from the dangerous world of high-dollar trafficking, and along the way, she uncovers the truth about herself and her past.

Richardson plays Linda Farrier, Myfanwy’s mentor and ally who must defend her tenuous hold on the agency’s secrecy, while Olivia Munn plays Monica from the U.S. Bureau of Variant Affairs, who arrives in London following the mysterious incident at Millennium Bridge to investigate the death of her former lover.

Other cast members include Adrian Lester (“The Day After Tomorrow”; “Riviera”), Ronan Raftery (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”; “Moone Boy”), Catherine Steadman (“About Time”; “Downton Abbey”), Jon Fletcher (“The Messengers”; “Genius”), Shelley Conn (“The Lottery”; “How Do You Know”), and James D’arcy (“Agent Carter”; “Dunkirk”). The series is executive produced by Lisa Zwerling, Karyn Usher, and Stephen Garrett (HBO’s “The Undoing”; “The Night Manager”); directed by Kari Skogland (Episodes 101 and 102; HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”; “Vikings”), China Moo-Young (Episodes 103, 105 and 108; “Spotless”; “Humans”), Sunu Gonera (Episodes 104 and 106; “Madam Secretary”; “Snowfall”), and Rebecca Johnson (Episode 107; “Honeytrap”).

PHILIPPINES, 23 DECEMBER 2020 – HBO has renewed the drama series His Dark Materials for a third season, it was announced today by Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming. Production on the eight-episode third season is slated to begin in Cardiff in 2021. The series will conclude its second season same time as the U.S. on Tuesday, December 29 at 10am exclusively on HBO GO and HBO, with a same day encore at 10pm om HBO.

“Bringing Phillip Pullman’s epic, intricate and culturally resonant body of work to television has been a tremendous privilege,” said Orsi.

His Dark Materials has been a truly global TV experience and a personal career highlight,” said Executive Producer Jane Tranter. “The creative team at Bad Wolf in Cardiff made the impossible possible and brought Philip Pullman’s worlds into vivid life.  To see that hard work and dedication applauded and embraced by fans around the world has made all the hard work worthwhile. I am excited, thrilled and honoured to be making the third part of Philip Pullman’s trilogy with their support and encouragement. Diolch”

Adapting Philip Pullman’s award-winning trilogy of the same name, which is considered a modern masterpiece of imaginative fiction, His Dark Materials’ seven-episode second season follows Lyra (Dafne Keen), a seemingly ordinary but brave young woman from another world. The season began as Lyra, distraught over the death of her best friend, embarks upon a journey in a strange and mysterious abandoned city. There she meets Will (Amir Wilson), a boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.

GQ called this season of His Dark Materials “a towering success,” while Paste Magazine hailed it as “more epic than ever before.” Mashable praised the show’s “absorbing cast,” while Slashfilm called this season “essential viewing.”

Season two series regulars include Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Andrew Scott, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas and Lin-Manuel Miranda. PHILIPPINES, 16 DECEMBER 2020 – HBO’s drama series Industry has been renewedfor a second season, it was announced by Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming. This series will conclude its eight-episode first season with the final two episodes airing back-to-back same time as the U.S. on Tuesday, 22 December at 11am and 12pm on HBO GO and HBO, with a same day encore at 11pm on HBO.

“Mickey and Konrad have captured an authentic, fresh angle on workplace culture from the bottom up and presented a complex look at navigating life in your early twenties – replete with thrills, failures and victories,” says Orsi. “It’s exciting to see fans embrace these young graduates, and we join them in anticipation of what’s in store for season two. We also send a big thanks to our partners at Bad Wolf and BBC.”

From first-time creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, Industry follows a group of young graduates competing for a limited number of permanent positions at a leading international bank in London.

Starring Myha’la Herrold (“The Tattooed Heart”), Marisa Abela (“Cobra”), Harry Lawtey (“City of Tiny Lights”), David Jonsson (“Deep State”) and Nabhaan Rizwan (“Mogul Mowgli”) as “The Graduates” and Conor MacNeill (“Artemis Fowl”), Freya Mavor (“Skins”), Will Tudor (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”) and Ken Leung (HBO’s “High Maintenance”) as “Management,” Industry gives an insider’s view of the blackbox of “high finance” through the eyes of an outsider, Harper Stern (Herrold), a talented young woman from upstate New York. Following a group of young grads fueled by ambition, youth, romance and drugs, the series examines issues of gender, race, class, and privilege in the workplace as these impressionable young minds begin to forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment and sensory blitz of Pierpoint & Co’s trading floor, where meritocracy is promised but hierarchy is king.

Wall Street Journal noted that Industry presents “a world that’s thoroughly believable, frequently appalling and fully enthralling,” while Hollywood Reporter praised the series as “steamy escapism.” TIME called it “smart and contemporary… a ‘Working Girl’ for a new generation,” citing that “Down and Kay add to the verisimilitude with dialogue that feels both cerebral and…realistic,” and NPR crowned Harper Stern “the most fascinating character on TV right now.”

Upcoming episodes include:

Season 1, Episode 7: “Pre-Crisis Activity”

Debut date: Tuesday, 22 December at 11am on HBO GO and HBO

With Reduction in Force Day looming, the graduates do whatever it takes to secure final recommendations from their superiors and solidify vital client relationships. At a dinner party hosted by Yasmin (Marisa Abela) and Sebastian, resentment and jealousy bubble to the surface, and Harper (Myha’la Herrold) divulges confidential company business.

Written by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay; Directed by Mary Nighy.

Season 1, Episode 8: “Reduction in Force” (Season finale)

Debut date: Tuesday, 22 December at 12pm on HBO GO and HBO

After a tumultuous few months at Pierpoint, the graduates take vastly different approaches as they stand before senior management to prove they’re worthy of permanent positions. Following an unexpected meeting with a familiar face, Harper (Myha’la Herrold) contends with a decision that could transform the culture of Pierpoint.

Season one credits: Industry is created and executive produced by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay; Executive produced by Jane Tranter, Lachlan MacKinnon, Ryan Rasmussen, David P. Davis and by Ben Irving for BBC; Co-Executive produced by Ed Lilly; Produced by Lee Thomas. Produced for HBO / BBC by Bad Wolf. Writers include Konrad Kay, Mickey Down, Sam H. PHILIPPINES, DECEMBER 8, 2020: HBO Asia Originals bagged three wins at the 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA). Yeo Yann Yann swept the Best Actress award for her moving role as a mother to a teenage son with autism in Invisible Stories, while Takumi Saitoh won the Best Director award for his episode in the anthology series Food Lore at the Gala Awards Final which took place on December 4.

The HBO Asia Original movie The Garden Of Evening Mists by Astro Shaw and HBO Asia claimed the Best Feature Film award at the Grand Awards announced on 3 December.

HBO’s sibling channel brand Cartoon Network picked up another win for its original animated series Lamput, the third time in a row it has won in the Best Children’s Programme category.

Stream or download these award-winning titles on HBO GO.

Best Actress in a Leading Role – Yeo Yann Yann

Invisible Stories shines light into dark corners and tells untold stories from the heartlands in a fictional neighbourhood housing estate in multi-cultural Singapore. Filmed entirely on location in Singapore, Lian (played by Yeo Yann Yann) is the story of a burnt out and financially-drained single mother struggling to cope with her 19-year-old son with autism, who displays aggressive behaviours during meltdowns following the sudden death of his grandmother, who was his main caregiver.

Best Director (Fiction) – Takumi Saitoh (Food Lore: Life In A Box)

Food Lore explores human conditions with narratives inspired by Asian cuisines. In the episode Food Lore: Life In A Box directed by Takumi Saitoh, the lonely paths of an uninspired picture book author, a recent widower and his teenage daughter, and an elderly retired wrestler intersect during a quiet train ride away from busy Tokyo as the group revisits memories long forgotten and rediscovers hope on their journey of nostalgia, memory and love. The episode was set and filmed in Japan.

Best Feature Film – The Garden Of Evening Mists

The film tells the story of Teoh Yun Ling (played by Sinje Lee) who, embittered from atrocities of World War II in Malaya, seeks solace in the rolling hills of Cameron Highlands. There, she discovers Yugiri, the only Japanese garden in Malaya and its mysterious owner Nakamura Aritomo (played by Hiroshi Abe). He reluctantly accepts her as an apprentice so that she can build a garden in homage of her beloved sister who perished in a labour camp. As Yugiri reveals secrets of its own, Yun Ling and Aritomo embark on a forbidden love affair.

Best Children’s Programme – Lamput

Winner of this award for the third consecutive year is the loveable, Emmy-nominated cartoon Lamput. Made in India, but well-loved globally courtesy of Cartoon Network, this series keeps gaining plaudits for its hilarious non-dialogue chase antics starring an ever-morphing orange blob.

Other notable WarnerMedia entries in the AAAs included Miller Khan who claimed the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Goddess award for Malaysia’s The Bridge, which aired on HBO GO and HBO, and Pretty Little Liars, a Warner Bros. format in Indonesia, which got the nod for “Best Adaptation of an Existing Format”.
