PHILIPPINES, 17 MAY 2019 – ICE ON FIRE, an eye-opening documentary that focuses on many never-before-seen solutions designed to slow down our escalating environmental crisis, goes beyond the current climate change narrative and offers hope that we can actually stave off the worst effects of global warming.

Produced by Oscar®-winner Leonardo DiCaprio, George DiCaprio and Mathew Schmid, and directed by Leila Conners, the film will have its world premiere at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival as an Official Selection on Wednesday, 22 May. ICE ON FIRE debuts same time as the U.S. on Wednesday 12 June at 8am, exclusively on HBO GO. The documentary will also be available on HBO SIGNATURE in August 2019.

Eleven years after Conners’ first collaboration with DiCaprio on The 11th Hour,”which emphasised the problems of climate change, ICE ON FIRE instead focuses on the cutting-edge research behind today’s climate science – and the innovations aimed at reducing carbon in the atmosphere, which could pave the way for a reduction in the global temperature rise and a benefit to the planet’s life systems.

“My partners and I made ICE ON FIRE to give a voice to the scientists and researchers who work tirelessly every day on the front lines of climate change,” says producer and narrator Leonardo DiCaprio. “We wanted to make a film that depicts the beauty of our planet while highlighting much-needed solutions across renewable energy and carbon sequestration. This film does more than show what is at stake if we continue on a course of inaction and complacency – it shows how, with the help of dedicated scientists, we can all fight back. I hope audiences will be inspired to take action to protect our beautiful planet.”

With sweeping cinematography of a world worth saving, ICE ON FIRE was filmed across the globe, from Norway to Alaska, Iceland to Colorado, Switzerland to Costa Rica to Connecticut. The film highlights firsthand accounts of people at the forefront of the climate crisis, with insights from scientists, farmers, innovators and others.

ICE ON FIRE emphasises the importance of an immediate, two-pronged approach to reversing the crisis: reducing carbon emissions through traditional renewable energy sources and new ones, like tidal energy, and implementing “drawdown” measures, focusing on methods for drawing down and sequestering carbon, including direct air capture, sea farms, urban farms, biochar, marine snow, bionic leaves and others.

While much of the political and economic focus has been on the energy sector, the film points out that drawdown (pulling CO2 out of the atmosphere and oceans and sequestering it underground or into new materials) is perhaps the best hope for mitigating climate change.

The film visits places such as: the Usal Redwood Forrest Foundation in northern California, highlighting a carbon-storage project that focuses on reforestation and creates “biochar” to put CO2 back into the soil; Ron Finley’s urban farm in Los Angeles, where members of the community grow food that takes carbon out of the air and is nutritious; Climeworks’ nimble direct air capture machine in Zurich; and Thimble Island Ocean Farm off the coast of Connecticut, where owner Bren Smith grows shellfish and seaweed that soak up more carbon than land-based plants and can be used for food, animal feed and fertilizer.

ICE ON FIRE finds that while the risks and urgency may be higher than ever today, there are also greater opportunities for innovative solutions, offering a realistic but hopeful perspective on a key global issue that demands our attention.

ICE ON FIRE is directed by Leila Conners; narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio; producers, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mathew Schmid and Leila Conners; executive producers, George DiCaprio, Roee Sharon Peled; cinematography by Harun Mehmedinovic. For HBO: executive producers, Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller.

ICE ON FIRE debuts same time as the U.S. on Wednesday 12 June at 8am, exclusively on HBO GO. The documentary will also be available on HBO SIGNATURE in August 2019.

The Series Culminates On 20 May Same Time As The U.S. At 9am Exclusively On HBO

PHILIPPINES, 14 MAY 2019 – Following the penultimate episode premiere of GAME OF THRONES Season 8 yesterday, HBO has made available several behind-the-scenes videos regarding the episode.

David Benioff (Executive Producer, Writer) and D.B. Weiss (Executive Producer, Writer) break down Episode 5 in ‘Inside The Episode’ –

“Jon Snow is someone that she’s fallen in love with and as far as she’s concerned by this point Jon has betrayed her by telling people about his true identity, and also the fact that he’s unable to return her affections at this point. I think that when she says “let it be fear” she’s resigning herself to the fact that she may have to get things done in a way that isn’t pleasant and she may have to get things done in a way that is horrible to lots of people. She chose violence, and a Targaryen choosing violence is a pretty terrifying thing.”

“I don’t think she decided ahead of time that she was going to do what she did. And then she sees the Red Keep which is to her, the home that her family built when they first came over to this country 300 years ago. It’s in that moment on the walls of King’s Landing where she’s looking at that symbol of everything that was taken from her, when she makes the decision to make this personal.”

In addition, a 35-minute featurette, The Game Revealed Episode 5, delves into the astounding set builds, stunt work, and battles of “The Bells.” Production designer Deb Riley, SFX supervisor Sam Conway, VFX producer Steve Kullback, and prosthetics designer Barrie Gower give exclusive interviews alongside series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, episode director Miguel Sapochnik, actors Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and more to explain how the massacre of King’s Landing – from the destruction of the Iron Fleet, to the “Clegane Bowl,” to the fall of the Red Keep – came to life.

The series finale of the Emmy®-winning HBO Original series GAME OF THRONES premieres same time as the U.S. on Monday, 20 May at 9am exclusively on HBO.

New trailer for the final episode can be viewed here.

Based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, this HBO award-winning fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent kingdom. The pinnacle of this is Catch-22, a military by-law which states that if you fly your missions, you’re crazy, and don’t have to fly them; all you have to do is ask. But if you ask not to, then you’re sane, and so you have to fly them.

New Episodes Premiere Same Time As The U.S., Every Monday At 9am Exclusively On HBO

SINGAPORE, 7 MAY 2019 – Following the fourth episode premiere of GAME OF THRONES Season 8 yesterday, HBO has made available several behind-the-scenes videos regarding the episode.

·      HBO Asia | Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4: Cast Commentary Part 1
·         HBO Asia | Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4: Cast Commentary Part 2
·         HBO Asia | Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4: Inside the Episode
·         HBO Asia | Game of Thrones Season 8: The Game Revealed: The Last of the Starks

David Benioff (Executive Producer, Writer) and D.B. Weiss (Executive Producer, Writer) break down Episode 4 in ‘Inside The Episode’ –

On Dany and Jon – “After the feast she comes to talk to him and with the intention of making this all work out, of bringing things back to the way they were before. There’s a moment where they’re kissing and it seems like things are kind of getting to where they were but it’s almost as if he remembers all the sudden what she really is. It’s tense for him. For her, she grew up hearing all these stories about how their ancestors who were related to each other were also lovers and it doesn’t seem that strange to her, for him it is a strange thing. Once Dany introduces the idea that everything can be as it was if John keeps this secret button down and tells no one. She’s introducing a conflict that plays forward.”

And on Brienne and Jaime – “The vulnerability that they show runs very counter to who they are as people. I do believe it when Jaime decides to stay behind with Brienne, it’s a choice that he makes with every intention of seeing it through. When he hears what Cersei is done, I think that’s the turning point for him. At that point, Jaime really has to take a really long, uncomfortable look at who he really is. As much as Jaime cares for Brienne and admires her and loves her, he’s got almost an addiction to Cersei that he just can’t break. So even though he’s given a kind of a chance at happiness and some kind of different life for himself, he can’t take it – he makes the choice to go back to Cersei.”

In addition, an 18-minute featurette, The Game Revealed: The Last of the Starks, offers fans exclusive insights into how Game of Thrones’ “The Last of the Starks” came together. Featuring interviews with director David Nutter, creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, actors Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and more, Episode 4 of this behind-the-scenes series takes viewers through the funeral and feast at Winterfell, Euron taking on Daenerys’ fleet, and Cersei’s power move.

The fifth episode of the 6-episode final season of the Emmy®-winning HBO Original series GAME OF THRONES premieres same time as the U.S. on Monday, 13 May at 9am exclusively on HBO. Episode 5 trailer can be viewed here.

Based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, this HBO award-winning fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent kingdom. New Episodes Premiere Same Time As The U.S., Every Monday At 9am Exclusively On HBO

PHILIPPINES, 2 May 2019 – Following the third episode premiere of GAME OF THRONES Season 8 yesterday, HBO has made available new images and several behind-the-scenes videos from the episode.

·       Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3: Cast Commentary – An Act of Love

·       Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3: Cast Commentary – The Great War

·       Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3: Inside the Episode

David Benioff (Executive Producer, Writer) and D.B. Weiss (Executive Producer, Writer) break down Episode 3 in ‘Inside The Episode’ –

“Because it’s such a long battle, and this episode is important that we feel the ebb and flow and so there are moments when you think things are going a little bit better for the living, we felt like it was important to have that moment of hope when Mel comes in and lights up their oxen and they’ll ride off into battle.”

“We knew this episode was going to be almost entirely battle and that can get really boring, really quickly. You can watch it for a certain number of minutes before the effect starts to dampen. Part of it was making sure that we really stayed focused on the characters, and so whether it’s Arya’s storyline or Sansa, Tyrion down the Crypt or Jon Snow and Dany up in the dragons, kind of like all these separate little battles within the greater battle.”

“Lyanna Mormont was supposed to be a one scene character and then we met Bella Ramsey and we realized that we would not be doing our jobs if we kept her as a one scene character. We knew that you can’t give a big death to everybody who dies in this battle, because it would have (which would have) been too much but there also if she were to die, there was no way to not make a moment of it, so that’s where the zombie giant comes in. It just did add a whole level of complexity to that moment that I’m sure a lot of people would have been okay with not having there if we had demanded to cut it but I think they also understood why we needed to give one of the strongest, smaller people in the show a chance to go out taking down one of the strongest larger things we’ve ever seen the show.”

“I think it’s probably three years now or something we’ve known that it was going to be Arya who delivers that fatal blow.”

In addition, a 40-minute featurette, The Game Revealed: The Long Night where the cast and crew sheds light on the extraordinary 11-week night shoot that culminated in the longest Game of Thrones episode to date, will be made available on HBO Asia’s YouTube channel later.

The fourth episode of the 6-episode final season of the Emmy®-winning HBO Original series GAME OF THRONES premieres same time as the U.S. on Monday, 6 May at 9am exclusively on HBO.

Episode 4 trailer can be viewed here.

Based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, this HBO award-winning fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent kingdom. On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union suffered a massive explosion that released radioactive material across Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, and as far as Scandinavia and western Europe.

Jared Harris portrays Valery Legasov, a leading Soviet nuclear physicist. As part of the response team, he is one of the first to grasp the scope of the unparalleled disaster that has occurred.

Stellan Skarsgård plays Soviet Deputy Prime Minister Boris Shcherbina, who is assigned by the Kremlin to lead the government commission on Chernobyl in the hours immediately following the accident.

Writer, creator and executive producer Craig Mazin began researching the Chernobyl disaster in 2014, using a wide variety of materials, including several books and government reports from inside and outside of the Soviet Union. He spoke to nuclear scientists to learn how a reactor works, and interviewed former Soviet citizens to gain a better sense of the culture in 1986.

Mazin also read a great number of first-person accounts, which helped bring an additional layer of authenticity and humanity to the story. He explains, “When you’re reading the personal stories of people who were there – people who lived near the plant, people who worked at the plant, people who were sent to Chernobyl as part of the effort to clean it up – in those individual accounts, that’s really where the story came alive.”

Principal photography for CHERNOBYL took place in Lithuania and Ukraine, with a creative team including: director of photography Jakob Ihre (“Thelma”); production designer Luke Hull (“Howards End”); editors, Jinx Godfrey (“The Theory of Everything”) and Simon Smith (“Endeavor”); costume designer Odile Dicks-Mireaux (“Brooklyn”); casting directors Nina Gold and Robert Sterne (both two-time Emmy® winners for HBO’s “Game of Thrones”); and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir (“Trapped”).
